What is the difference between ZigBee, Bluetooth and WiFi

Jul 08 , 2021

Now wireless read-through is hot. The three biggest WiFi, ZigBee and Bluetooth always confuse me. So what's the difference between these three?

ZigBee and Bluetooth are both wireless communication technologies. ZigBee's transmission range varies from a few hundred to a few thousand meters, depending on the transmitting power, but the transmission rate is only 250kps, but this is a theoretical value. The transmission distance of Bluetooth is only about 10 meters, and the transmission speed is 1.8m /s~ 2.1m /s. ZigBee is used in the smart home more, while Bluetooth is used in the file transmission of a very short distance.

A comparison of ZigBee, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and several wireless technologies is shown in the table below:

1. WIFI, WIFI is currently the most widely used wireless communication technology, transmission distance between 100-300m, speed up to 300Mbps, power consumption of 10-50mA.

2, ZigBee, the transmission distance is 50-300m, the speed is 250kbps, the power consumption is 5mA, the biggest feature is the ad-hoc network, the number of network nodes up to 65,000.

3, Bluetooth, the transmission distance is 2-30m, the rate is 1Mbps, the power consumption is between ZigBee and WiFi.

These three wireless technologies, from the transmission distance, is WIFI "ZigBee" Bluetooth; In terms of power consumption, it is WiFi, Bluetooth, ZigBee, and the latter two only rely on battery power. In terms of transmission rate, it is WiFi "ZigBee" Bluetooth.

These technologies are widely used in smart home, smart door locks, such as Bluetooth lock, WiFi lock, password lock and so on
